1. Meeting – CHANGE OF DATE

As you all know, we were thinking it would be nice to have our next Cloudesley Association meeting before Christmas, on Tuesday 24 November. Sadly we have struggled to get a nice convenient venue (Christmas parties galore in the local pubs!). Consequently, we have decided to rearrange the meeting for Tuesday 19th January 2016. Venue details and an agenda will be sent out before the meeting, but please do hold the date in your diaries as these meetings are a great way of getting to know your neighbours.

2. Arson Attacks

There has been an alarming increase in arson attacks in Islington in the past few weeks. Sadly, very close to home – (a) on 5th November, an attack on two mopeds on Richmond Crescent , (b) on 7th November the front door of No. 29 Richmond Crescent was set fire and (c) two days ago an attack on 5 mopeds on Cloudesley Street.

For more info, please see the "Breaking News" story on our website together with the article attached.

The police have asked residents to report suspicious activity (the policewoman in charge of the Richmond Avenue incidents is Detective Inspector Victoria Teagle). We will also be contacting the neighbourhood policing unit to discuss this with them (amongst other things).

3. Lonsdale Square Residents Association

We are pleased to report that we have made contact with the Lonsdale Square Residents Association, who are also very interested in the restoration of the Church and are keen to get involved in local charitable events and to share any local knowledge/intel with us.

4. Fundraiser – Youthwork Project – SAVE THE DATE

A gentle reminder that the Church is hosting an Autumn fundraiser on Saturday 28th November 7-9.30pm at St Andrew's Church (Thornhill Square). Details of the event are still to be finalised but tickets will be £10 and all the proceeds are to fundraise for their Children and Youth Work Project. Tickets can be purchased at St Andrew's Church (020 7607 4552). This is open to everyone of all ages. It should be a great event.

5. Christmas Events

The folks at Union Chapel are holding their first ever Christmas Fair on Sunday 13 December at 2pm. Details are below:

St Mary's church on Upper Street is holding a Christmas Fair on Sunday 5 December (11.30am – 4.30pm), as well as a number of Christmas carols and other festive services. Details are on their website at:

Timeout also has a list of Christmas Carol Concerts around London (many of which seem to be in Smithfield, Spitalfields, Hoxton and Holborn so really very close:

If you are aware of any event, consultation or news item that you would like us to include in our next newsletter, please let us (or your street rep) know.

As ever, if you know of any neighbour who is not on the Cloudesley Association e mail distribution list, please pass this e mail on and/or ask them to provide me with their contact details so that they can be kept in the loop.
